Alateen

Al-Anon and Alateen are support groups for anyone who has had their life affected by alcoholism.  This generally means family, friends, co-workers, but anyone the problem drinker comes into contact with can be affected.  With only 10% of the drinkers in the United States consuming 50% of the alcohol you can see you can see how just a few people can have wide ranging effects.

Both are self help groups based on a 12 step program.  It is spiritual but, not religious.  They help people learn that they are not responsible for what the problem drinker does.  Whether that person is still drinking or not. These groups cost nothing to attend. Although they will pass the hat for donations. They are also anonymous.  No one will say that you even attended a meeting let alone what you say if you choose to speak.  Speaking is not required.  You can talk or say nothing.  That's up to you.
