Learning Alcoholism
Learning alcoholism seems like a crazy thing to do. We learn how to do everything else. Walk, talk, etc. Why not learn how to harm
ourselves. The thing to remember is that
at one time drinking worked for us. It helped us interact socially with greater ease, it gave us energy, it made us less depressed or bored.
It did something for us and we liked it, so
we drank some more. We drank until it became a problem. Than we didn't know
what to do. There is a study known as the Rand Report. It showed that a
substantial number of people suffering from drinking problem were able to moderate their drinking as much as a year and a half after receiving treatment in abstinence
based therapies. Does this mean you can
unlearn problem drinking. I don't know. I think alcohol is about what's happening with your body and your
head. Perhaps if you don't have the physical component you can learn to
moderate your drinking.
