Rational Recovery – The Non-Support Self Help Group

Rational Recovery (RR) no longer holds group meetings. They have a website and literature to help a person recover on their own. They follow AVRT (Addictive Voice Recognition Technique). When they start to think about drinking they simply banish this “voice” to somewhere else. They ignore it. They follow an abstinence based program. That is probably the only thing they agree with AA about. For RR there is no “higher power” or “one day at a time”. The responsibility is on the RR member and the commitment is for life. RR believes you can recover from alcoholic drinking and just leave it behind and go on with your life.
